A QR-first restaurant POS for Regina, from inspection day to game night.
Opening in Regina means a provincial food licence, inspection records anyone can request, and a 33,000-seat stadium. Waitery puts your menu on each guest's phone through a table QR code. Guests order and pay there, and the ticket reaches your kitchen screen. It costs $14 CAD per location per month, and setup is free.
Four things a Regina operator should know first.
Each card links its official source (checked October 31, 2026).
City business licence
Premises paying commercial or industrial property tax need no City business licence.
Your health inspection office
The Saskatchewan Health Authority's Regina office reviews plans and licenses restaurants.
Records anyone can request
Since August 7, 2026, anyone can request three years of a restaurant's records.
Shuttles before a Rider game
Free stadium shuttles start this long before a Rider game or major event.

The City of Regina: a permit for the space, not a restaurant licence.
The City licenses home-based businesses, businesses based outside Regina and a few trades such as pawn brokers. Premises that pay commercial or industrial property tax are exempt, so most restaurants need no City business licence.
The City steps in when you change a space. A new business activity that changes the building code occupancy or occupant load needs a building or development permit, even with no construction. Apply through eBuild. Review takes about 20 days from a complete application, and the fee is $8 per $1,000 of construction value, $100 minimum. Book the POS delivery for the end of that review, so the handhelds and kitchen screen are tested before the health inspector comes.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority licence, step by step.
Your food licence comes from the province. The Saskatchewan Health Authority's Regina inspection office is at 2110 Hamilton St. (306-766-7755). Send it your floor plans and licence application before you renovate, and several weeks before you plan to open. The Food Facility Standards, updated July 2026, list what the plans must show, down to each hand wash basin.
- The licence is valid for one year and is not transferable.
- It hangs where customers can easily see it.
- Someone who has passed an approved food safety course must be working whenever food is prepared and served.
The health authority's food handler course runs in Regina at the Wascana Rehab Centre Auditorium for $70; the next listed date is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Your inspection history is public, and now covers three years.
Saskatchewan's public health inspectors complete around 15,000 food facility inspections a year. Results have been online since June 2009, and the Inspection InSite portal lists more than 5,000 restaurant-type facilities.
Since August 7, 2026, a request covers the past three years: licence status, inspection reports, orders, enforcement, complaint investigations, and any charges or convictions.
A POS can't pass an inspection for you, but it can carry a guest's allergy notes to the kitchen ticket as written.

Game nights at Mosaic Stadium.
Mosaic Stadium seats 33,000 and is home to the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders; REAL District runs it. The City takes bookings for its May to October season from January 1 to 31.
Free shuttles start 1 hour and 45 minutes before a Rider game or major event, from stops in the Warehouse District (including Dewdney Avenue at Scarth and at Lorne), downtown, the University of Regina and Southland Mall.
Near those stops, the pre-game hour is one rush with a hard stop. With QR ordering, a table orders, splits the bill by item and pays on their own phones, then leaves when the bus comes. Send grab-and-go fans to online ordering for pickup.

Sidewalks, patios and outdoor events: ask before you set up.
The City's permits page doesn't list a sidewalk cafรฉ or patio permit, so ask Service Regina (306-777-7000) before putting tables outside. Anything that closes or restricts a sidewalk, street or alley needs a Temporary Street Use Permit, requested at least 14 days ahead. A sidewalk food vending permit lasts a calendar year; renew by February 15, or start a new request 45 days before opening.
For an outdoor event on ground not already permitted for alcohol, SLGA needs written City approval first. Apply at least 10 business days ahead; the City answers you and SLGA within 14 days. Once a patio is approved, give each outdoor table its own QR code.

Tips and late closes under Saskatchewan rules.
The provincial rule is plain: unless the law or an established pool requires it, an employer can't deduct or withhold tips, or keep them to cover theft, mistakes, damage or wages.
- Staff must know about a tip pool, for example from a posted notice. Keep its records for two years after it ends.
- Owners, directors and shareholders share only if they regularly do the same work as the staff in the pool.
- Staff can't be required to put wages into a pool.
- Tips aren't wages, so they don't count toward holiday pay, vacation pay or the overtime rate.
On tax, an optional tip shown separately carries no PST; a mandatory gratuity you add to the bill does. And after a late game: staff who finish between 12:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. get free transportation home, and a restaurant can schedule only two shifts a day, inside a twelve-hour period.
Three Saskatchewan lines to set once.
GST is 5% and PST is 6%; meals and non-alcoholic drinks have carried PST since April 1, 2017, while alcohol carries a 10% Liquor Consumption Tax instead.
The minimum wage is $15.70 an hour from October 1, 2026.
Liquor permits come from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA), not the City.

Regina restaurant POS questions.
How much does a restaurant POS cost in Regina?
Waitery's software is $14 CAD a month per location for the whole platform, and setup is free. A kitchen display is $300, or $10.47 a month on a 48-month lease. Card processing is quoted for each restaurant.
Does a Regina restaurant need a City business licence?
Usually not: premises paying commercial or industrial property tax are exempt. You still need a Saskatchewan Health Authority food licence, and SLGA approval to serve alcohol.
Where can I see a Regina restaurant's inspection results?
On the province's Inspection InSite portal. The Saskatchewan Health Authority also provides report copies for $30 per restaurant, covering the past three years.
Can a Regina restaurant keep part of its servers' tips?
No. An employer can't deduct or withhold tips unless the law or an established tip pool requires it, and can't use them to cover losses or wages. Owners share in a pool only if they regularly do the same work.
How does QR ordering help on a Rider game day?
Guests order, split and pay from their own phones, so a table can leave as soon as it's ready. Free stadium shuttles start 1 hour and 45 minutes before a Rider game.
Does Waitery have a Regina office?
No. Waitery is based in Mississauga, Ontario, and there is no Regina office. We ship and support hardware across Canada, Regina included.
